IT WAS a bad day at the office for Alcester on Saturday as both the first and second teams lost to Old Leamingtonians.

In the first team encounter, the home side started the game well, in contrast to Alcester who were slow off the mark which left them two tries down within the first five minutes.

Old Leams made it 17-0 before Alcester had even ventured into their opposition’s half.

There was a glimmer of hope when Alcester’s first attack led to points on the board with full back Frazer Jackson slotting over a penalty kick, but these were to be Alcester’s only points of the game.

The match was over as a contest well before half time, which arrived with Alcester 36-3 down having endured almost half of the game to this point a player down following two yellow cards.

However, Alcester’s players did pick themselves up and dusted themselves down to put in a spirited second half display.

Centre Jack Green threatened throughout and on another day would have added to his try tally for the season. His brother George made a huge impact when he came on as a substitute and deservedly won the man of the match award for the visitors.

Following promotion, this is the first time Alcester have been outclassed at this new level. Lessons will be learned and eighth placed Alcester will hope to come back stronger when they return to league action at home to Old Wheatleyans on November 25.

The second team took an even harsher beating from Old Leamingtonians 3rds as the visitors won 60-0.

Old Leams put ten tries past a deflated Alcester side who were 26-0 down at half time.
