A BROMSGROVE & REDDITCH Athletic Club trio were rewarded for their sterling efforts in the Heart of England Athletics League in which they won ‘Athlete of the Match’ awards.
The event recognised the season’s best performances in each age group and the B&R runners were given T-shirts to mark their achievements.
Winners were selected for each age group – U13, U15 and U17 – across all events in each division, with one athlete chosen per age category at each of the three matches.
B&R were in Division Two with seven other teams, so to win three of the awards was a fantastic achievement.
B&R winners were Josh Pearson in the U17 400m, Beth Sykes in the U17 800m and Megan Haines in the U13 long jump.
These three, plus an additional five B&R athletes, won medals for the best individual performance in their event across the season.
The five were U13 boys: George Godwin, 800m; Finnan Robins, 1,500m; U15 boys: Matt Griffin, 80m hurdles; Andy Roadley, discus; U17 boys: Will Thorley, 100m hurdles.
The club finished in second place in the division to gain promotion to Division One for next season.
