White stuff thwarts Reds Ladies

Redditch Editorial 25th Jan, 2018   0

REDDITCH United Ladies were frustrated by the weather when Sunday’s home match against Kidderminster Harriers fell victim to snow.

Gary Barrell’s side, who lead the way at the top of West Midlands Regional Women’s League Division One South on goal difference from second placed Gornal with a game in hand, face a key game on Sunday when they visit the Black Country to face their nearest challengers.

The Reds will head to their hosts’ Kingswinford base bolstered by the addition of three new players.

Livvi Ashfield, who has signed from Kidderminster Harriers, is no stranger to Redditch United, having won the West Midlands Regional Women’s League Cup with the Reds last season whilst dual-signed with West Bromwich Albion U16s.

A talented forward who has represented the Worcestershire County Schools’ FA at U14 and U16 level, she competed in the Gothia World Youth Cup in Sweden as well as the Disney Soccer Showcase in Orlando, USA.

Ashfield was also selected to represent the Midlands and the North of England during a stellar representative schools football career.

Also on board is Tia Williams who featured for the Reds Ladies in pre-season, competing well against Birmingham & West Midlands from the FA Premier Midlands League and showing she has the potential to make the step up to senior level.

Likewise, Jodie Imms is an exciting playmaker who made a big impact in pre-season for the club, including scoring an exceptional goal against the Coventry United Development Squad in a 5-3 victory.
