Waqas Ali to miss Redditch's clash with Handsworth

Redditch Editorial 2nd Aug, 2018   0

REDDITCH Entaco will be without skipper Waqas Ali on Saturday as they welcome Handsworth to Bromsgrove Road in their Birmingham League Division Three contest.

Ali is away on holiday as eighth-placed Redditch face a team lying in sixth.

Redditch will be looking to gain revenge following a defeat away at Handsworth earlier in the season.

Last week’s home fixture against league leaders Stourbridge lasted just 30.2 overs.

Stourbridge reached 140-3 with talented wicket keeper batsman Marverick Perry on 54 not out before the match was abandoned, with Redditch picking up six points and Stourbridge eight.

The Seconds’ fixture 2nd XI Second Division South away at Stourbridge managed to survive a bit longer with Stourbridge scoring 262-9 off 50 overs with Warren Bisp taking 4-43.

In reply, Redditch lost Haleem Basharat early on but sensible batting from Nick Fowkes 60 and 56 from Yasser Altar steered Redditch through to 154-2 off 30 overs.

Tomorrow Redditch travel to Handsworth.

The 3rd XI fixture away at Cutnall Green in Worcestershire County League Division Five was curtailed by the weather.

Just 33 overs were bowled as Redditch made 152-4, with skipper Tom Notching hitting a quickfire 43 not out.

Tomorrow the Thirds entertain Pershore at the Entaco.

The Fourth managed to dodge the downpours by beating Pedmore in a low-scoring Division Eight North contest at the Entaco.

Pedmore being bowled out for just 37 with Owen Edwards taking 4-6.

Redditch took just 6.2 overs to reach their target with Nev Mason scoring 30 not out.
