Reserves in fine form ahead of Moors Academy test

Redditch Editorial 13th Mar, 2019   0

REDDITCH United Reserves head into Saturday’s (3pm) fixture at home to table-topping Moors Academy buoyed by a thumping 7-0 victory over Wyrley Reserves on Saturday.

The fifth-placed Reds go into the match unbeaten in four after a resounding home success, the highlight of which was a clinical hat-trick from Randane Larmond.

This convincing victory is a sign of the massive leaps the young side have taken under new manager Karl Addis in the Midland Football League Reserves Division.

In the reverse fixture at the beginning of the season, the Reds were 2-1 victors at Moors but since then the Solihull side have gone from strength to strength and have only suffered defeat on one other occasion.

Redditch United Reserves are one of various teams currently running at Redditch United Academy. Based at the TRICO Stadium, RUFC Academy offers a full-time education programme at college and university level, alongside a full-time football programme, with players training multiple times a week under UEFA-licensed coaches.

The academy has had success on both fronts in recent times, with a number of students moving on to university, as well as eight academy players signing for Redditch United first team, including six this season.

The academy is currently recruiting for next season’s intake of players and an open trial takes place on Friday, March 22 at the TRICO Stadium, beginning at 7pm. Visit www.rufcacademy.co.uk for details.
