Five-star Millers are in fine fettle

ASSISTANT manager Ryan Young hailed Feckenham’s efforts after a thumping 5-1 victory over Alcester Town lifted the Millers into third place in Midland League Division Two.

The home win leaves Feckenham 12 points behind leaders Solihull United but with five games in hand and just two adrift of second-placed Knowle having played three matches fewer.

Feckenham dominated Saturday’s contest and, boasting a record of nine wins and a draw from their 11 league matches, will be full of confidence ahead of testing fixtures at fourth and fifth-placed Northfield Town and FC Stratford on Saturday (2pm) and Tuesday (7.45pm) respectively.

“Saturday was a really pleasing result and performance in very challenging conditions with the wind and rain,” said Young.

“We didn’t have everything our own way and Alcester who are a very good side took a 1-0 lead early doors.

“The response from the lads was excellent and following going a goal down our reaction was superb. We had a 30-minute spell when we were brilliant going forward and deservedly went in 5-1 up at half-time.

“Jack Cole levelled things up with a wonder strike from the edge of the box following a solo run before the unplayable on the day Ben Ellicott bagged himself three goals and Alcester scored an own goal.

“It was a really pleasing result for us and means we’ve now scored 12 in our last two and only conceded one. It was pleasing to see how the lads dealt with the conditions on the day and also the reaction to going a goal down.

“Every game for us now is massive and we have some huge games between now and the end of the season. The ball is in our court as to how well we want to do this season now.

“We have three very challenging fixtures coming up against champions Northfield, Stratford and Knowle, weather permitting, which will be big tests for us.

“(Forward) Liam Fullerton has also now returned to full training which will be a massive addition to the group.”
