WHITE Hart were able to hold their first tournament of the season on Saturday since bowling club restrictions were eased a few weeks ago.
The maximum number of entries was set at 16 for the annual Summer Handicap with four groups of four bowlers battling to reach the semi-final stage.
After the group placings were settled, Ray Richards was giving John Meredith four shots in the first semi and quickly went 8-1 down before turning the match around to win 15-11.
The other semi saw Mike Estell completely dominating his match with Michael Hutchinson who was getting a seven-shot start but could not strike a blow against Estell who ran out a 15-7 winner.
Estell and Richards were both playing off scratch in the final and it was a tight affair for most of the contest until Estell took control of the last few ends to win 15-11 and take the title.
