REDDITCH Borough got off to a losing start in the Post-COVID Lockdown Charity Cup, slipping to a 2-1 defeat at Mettis Sports & Social Club against Alcester Town.

The Romans came out on top in the derby clash, securing their first three-point haul in Division One thanks to goals from Ross Dempster and Michael Wright.

James Perry struck for Borough with a fine headed finish, though it was not enough to help Julian Workman’s side keep in line with Alcester, Fairfield Villa and Knowle – who all grabbed opening-day wins.

Borough host Hampton next, while Town head to Fairfield on matchday two.
