REDDITCH RFC’s depleted squad were beaten 27-10 at Stone to suffer a sixth straight defeat with over 20 players unavailable for selection

Stuart Brookes scored Redditch’s only try with Will Spires adding five points from the kicking tee as Stone proved too strong on home soil.

The result means Redditch remain fifth in the Midlands 5 West (South) table, with 44 points from 18 matches.

Stone scored three first-half tries, two of which were converted, as they slowly worked away at the Redditch line with Spires’ kicking a penalty for the visitors with the last play of the half.

The Kingfishers looked a side transformed in the second period with skipper Stu Hope leading by example in the pack.

Brookes eventually burrowed over from close range with Spires converting however Redditch were unable to trouble the scoreboard again despite elusive runs from Leo Fanthome and Joe Looker.

Stone added a late penalty and one further try to take the game away from Redditch who are without a win since late January.

Redditch are next in action at home to Atherstone on Saturday, March 26 with kick-off at 3pm at Redditch Rugby Club.
