WHITE Hart Crown Green Bowling Club’s Sunday teams both produced fine team performances to win their respective league matches last weekend.

The A team won 158-120 at Hockley Heath in Division Two with wins for captain Graham Arnott (21-13) and Mike Estell (21-12) handing them a seven-shot lead at the halfway stage.

And Hart won all four second half games courtesy of Nell Laxton (21-20), Paul Matthews (21-6), Kirk Wright (21-17) and Mick Perrins (21-10) to win by 38 shots.

The Redditch club are now second in the table with two games in hand on leaders Hall Green whilst Matthews tops the division’s individual averages list – some 43 shots clear of his nearest rival.

And White Hart’s B team ran out 146-129 winners in their Division Three home match against Baldwin B to take eight points from the fixture.

The hosts made a fine start thanks to winning cards from John Meredith (21-6), Steve Jones (21-7) and Tony Buckley (21-13).

Hart held a dominant 34-shot lead at the halfway stage and, despite only managing one win in the second half of the tie through Dave Kings (21-19), would still go on to claim victory.

However, in the S.W.Bham and District Over 60’s league. neither of Hart’s teams were able to secure victory.

In Division One, White Hart A hosted King George V/Police A and produce a single winning card in the first half from captain Kirk Wright who came from 4-10 down to beat John Beechey 21-18.

There were second half wins for Mike Estell (21-16) and Mick Perrins (21-14) who both showed good form but was not enough to give the Redditch club the home win as the visitors won the match 111-106.

Elsewhere, White Hart B were soundly beaten at Triplex B in Division Three where Gill Croft (21-16) was their only winner.

In the Heart of England League Division Three, White Hart B were beaten 152-133 at Hockley Heath with Phil Hemming (21-19) their only first half winner.

Despite claiming two more winning cards in the second session from Croft (21-10) and Ian Humphreys (21-18) it was not enough to prevent defeat.

In the Heart of England Over 60’s Division One, White Hart A suffered a home defeat against Triplex A.

They managed two winning cards from Laxton (21-6) and Perrins (21-20) but two single-figure scorecards proved to be their undoing in a 94-110 final scoreline.

And White Hart B had to play on a dry green with hardly a blade of grass at Yardley Wood in Division Twp, on which quality bowling was virtually impossible.

Malcolm Bird recovered from 12 -17 down to lose narrowly and Ian Humphreys only went down by a single shot before captain Croft gave the visitors their only point in a hard-fought 21-18 victory.
