Alcester Food Festival sure to whet the appetite

TASTY treats galore are in store at the Alcester Food Festival which is being served up this Saturday, May 16.

With even more stallholders pencilled in than last year – 130 in total – the emphasis will be on quality local produce featuring everything from beers and ciders to cheese and Harvington asparagus.

“It’s going to be a gourmet’s delight and the high street should be packed with lots of lovely things to to eat and drink,” said Frank Wood, chairman of the organising committee.

The reputation of the festival, now in its sixth year, is such that last year it attracted over 20,000 visitors with people travelling from as far afield as Ipswich.

“The real attraction is just the quality of the offering and the variety,” said Mr Wood. “It’s the biggest and best event in Alcester over the summer and there will be no distractions, no bouncy castles, just quality products on offer, plus a cookery contest for the children.”

The event runs from 9am to 5pm and there will be a free park and ride plus free entry too.
