A CONCERT and recruitment evening will be held by the Alcester Male Voice Choir at the town’s Jubilee Centre, writes Kirsty Card.

Doors will open from 7.30pm on September 19 as the choir begin its search for new members.

The choir aims to keep a stable number of more than 80 members as it performs to raise thousands for charities each year.

Founder and Conductor Judith Land said: “Our membership is drawn from all walks of life, all musical abilities and of all ages, but we do lose members through a variety of reasons so it is essential to secure the future of the choir through constant recruitment.

“Potential members often hesitate to take that first step and I fully understand why.

“But I would like to assure any gentleman interested that they would be made most welcome.

“There are no stressful auditions, they don’t have to read music, they will make new friends and above all have fun and through singing.”

The choir offers opportunities to many young talented singers and encourages amateur performers to work with professionals.

The group has been well-received across Europe as it has performed on tours across Germany, Austria, France and Spain.

Members have also sang alongside critically acclaimed performers such as Dame Shirley Bassey, Katherine Jenkins, Llanelli and Willard White.
