THE Birmingham Royal Ballet are to perform the world premiere of Arcadia as part of a mixed programme next week at the Hippodrome.
It’s part of the programme ‘Three Short Story Ballets’ and plays alongaside Michael Corder’s Le Baiser de la fee and John Cranko’s ever popular Pineapple Poll.
In Le Baiser de la fée a young boy’s life is marked from the moment a fairy saves his life in the snow, unleashing magical joys and sorrows in choreographer Michael Corder’s beautiful interpretation of this classic Hans Christian Andersen tale.
In Pineapple Poll, a gaggle of girls fall in love with the dashing captain of HMS Hot Cross Bun, so dress up as sailors and sneak aboard.
Despite the ensuing chaos, it all ends well in this thoroughly ‘Gilbert and Sullivan’ affair!
Finally, in Arcadia, see the ancient god Pan as you’ve never seen him before, as Birmingham Royal Ballet’s Ruth Brill makes her first commissioned piece to a striking new score composed by renowned saxophonist John Harle, who will be performing live at every performance.
Three Short Story Ballets runs from June 21-24 and tickets are available on www.brb.co.uk or on 0844 338 5000.
