Peter Pan, Aunty Jen Productions, Studley Sports and Social Club
WHAT an absolute joy this production is – and so inventive too!
Whether it’s the cast ‘swimming’ or ‘sailing’ among the audience or the brilliant puppetry, it will keep you entranced throughout and chortling at the gags for days after.
Where to begin? The production is so mad it works brilliantly.
Peter Pan, JM Barrie’s tale of the boy who never grows up is a tale of innocence and escapism and given the Aunty Jen Productions makeover is a treat for boys and girls of all ages.
Here are two worlds – the staid reality of the Darling family and their three children, and Neverland where Peter Pan and Tinkerbell and Captain Hook, the crocodile, mermaids and more live, and getting there is just a dream away.
Singing sensation Billy Vale shines in the title role while the fabulous trio of Annaliese Morgan, Jen Rigby and Nicolette Morgan hold it all together with antics, jokes, and breathtaking acting.
Neville Cann is great as a feisty yet rather dithering Captain Hook as well as doubling up as a suitably austere Mr Darling before turning his hand to the hilarious Neverbird, squawking his way through the audience.
Then there’s Loretta Hope who is amazing as Tinkerbell – great voice, great acting, great puppetry. Fantastic.
There’s also a role for Jen’s daughter Tilly and even her pet beagle Pepper.
In short, I’m running out of superlatives here – but did I mention the flying scenes? Just brilliantly done.
Tickets are only £6 and as usual with Aunty Jen, it’s open air theatre performed on the back of an Allely’s trailer.
Bring your own chair but there’s burgers and beer and wine available from the tent or from the Sports and Social Club.
The remaining dates are August 27, 28, 29 and it’s curtain up at 3pm. Don’t miss it.
