SHOPPERS at the Kingfisher Centre are being treated to a fabulous free art extravaganza this half term.

The Arts in Redditch event features work from 30 artists from the Redditch Art Circle and others involved in local arts groups.

Chairman Malcolm Hall said: “This is our third gallery. It has been hugely successful.

“We are featuring ten new artists this time around as we never show the same work twice.

“This way we keep it fresh for customers.”

The event is well on track to totalling 4,000 visitors by the time it ends on Sunday (May 31).

Visitors can find everything from hand-crafted jewellery to canvas shoulder bags and oil paintings to delicate sketches in graphite pencil at the unit next to Deichmann shoe shop in the mall.

Lisa Landreth, duty manager, said: “Our aim is to have somewhere permanent, we need more artists in Redditch and we are using this event to raise awareness.”

Lisa, amongst others, has been holding daily demonstrations at the exhibition to showcase her jewellery making skills.

Christine Skirrow, programme secretary of Redditch Art Circle, said: “We add something of interest to the shopping mall.

“Every shopping mall is the same — they need more craft stalls and artists.”

Redditch Photographic Society is also showcasing an exhibition along the back wall of the unit.

Stunning images of animals, snowy scenes and landscapes are all on display.

With prices starting from as low as £6 there really is something from everyone at the exhibition, which is open from 10am until 4pm every day.
