THE Bel Canto Singers are throwing open their doors at 7.15pm on Monday (January 25) at Crabb’s Cross Methodist Chapel, Redditch, B97 5LD and everyone is welcome to come and join them.
Last year was the choir’s 25th anniversary and they played an unprecedented number of concerts, particularly in the run-up to Christmas.
By the end of the financial year they expect to have raised in excess of £250 for their chosen charity, Support Works.
This year the choir will be raising funds for Primrose Hospice and chair Polly Speers is excited at the prospects for 2016: “We’re a community choir based in Redditch and, if the evidence of last year’s demand for concerts is anything to go by, becoming increasingly popular.
“We currently have about 35 members, but we’d love to welcome more. We sing a varied mix of popular songs, comedy numbers, choral pieces and extracts form musicals and light opera.
“No experience is required and prospective members don’t need to be able to read music. So anyone who enjoys singing, particularly men, and would like to join a friendly, welcoming choir, should come along to our open evening on January 25. We’d be delighted to welcome them.”
