COMEDIENNE Sheila McMahon returns to Redditch this week, to follow up her previous sell-out performance at the Palace Theatre earlier this year.
With brand new comedy material, ‘Sheila’s M.H.S – Mental Health Show’ comes to the Palace on October 22 and Sheila hopes to use her comedy skills to help people see the funnier side of life, as well as educate them about human nature and mental health issues.
Since she last performed in Redditch, the qualified mental health counsellor has been busy helping with mental well-being in Redditch where she’s hosted one of her Mind Management Workshops at the Redi Centre, visited a Mental Health Support Group. She is also planning collaboration work with Redditch’s MHAG (Mental Health Action Group).
Sheila said: “I am very excited about performing at The Palace Theatre again and can’t wait to share my experiences and knowledge whilst having a laugh and a good old sing song.
“I want to take away the stigma about mental health, and one of the best ways I find of doing this is by adding comedy, as it lightens the messages, makes it easier to talk about, and hopefully starts a process where we can start laughing our way to better mental well-being.”
Sheila’s show draws upon her own experiences both living with and working with mental health issues and audiences are encouraged to get talking about mental health in a constructive way.
