LOCAL band Hermosa Pier are launching their first EP this coming Monday.

Featuring Redditch local now Alcester resident Dom Hawthorn on guitar, Holly Coles on vocals, Kate Leach on bass and Tom Findley on drums, it’s the fruits of two years’ labour since the quartet first got together.

“We’ve all got different influences in music and really will listen and play everything,” said Dom.

The EP features a clutch of songs penned by the band with Holly’s strong crystal vocals to the fore backed by some real power chords as the band get into their stride.

“Myself, Kate and Holly were all on the same course music at Birmingham City University in 2018 and for Holly’s final performance she asked me and Kate to be part of her band with Tom who was a friend from outside uni,” said Dom.

“A year later I put something out about starting a band and we reformed.

“Our debut single, ‘Doing Fine’, was released at the start of 2019 and received thousands of hits across social media in its first week and has been played numerous times on BBC Introducing Radio Stations.

“This eventually led to the band securing a spot on the BBC Introducing Stage at Hopfest Music Festival 2019 and we also played the main stage at Morton Stanley Festival 2019.”

The tracks for the EP were put down over two sessions, eight hours in total and mastered by Redditch’s own music maestro Elliot Vaughan.

The Words to Myself by Hermosa Pier will be available on all streaming services.
