FORMER world champion DJ Mix Master Mike is making tracks for Redditch and a fantastic party is promised when he takes to the stage at the Queens Head next Saturday, September 26.
The one-time DJ for the Beastie Boys is currently on a world tour and incredibly his Redditch gig will be one of only two he’ll do in the UK – the other is in Leeds.
And promoter Luke says it’s the Queens Head’s reputation as a brilliant party venue that is bringing him to town.
“Mix Master Mike is so good that because he kept winning the DMC world championships in the America and they asked him to retire from taking part and asked him to be on the judging panel instead,” he said.
The DJ is known for his heavy basslines and intricate scratching and Luke is expecting the the Queens Street pub to be bringing in fans from far and wide.
“We’ve managed to create a great party venue so that, although the capacity is only 300 the performers we get, people Jazzy Jeff and A Guy Called Gerald say it’s so good they could be 3,000 strong,” said Luke.
“It also means the fans can get up right close to the artists and they’ll be there, signing posters and T-shirts and loving it.”
Luke also said he knack of bringing in top performers with global reputations is a boost for town.
“I promote across the Midlands and in the end we get people from all over the country and even from places like Belgium, Holland and Germany coming to Redditch and they think it is a great place.
“As a result we often provide a boost for the local community because the fans stay in town, book hotel rooms and spend their money here.”
