A BRAND new music festival is set to take Birmingham by storm in September as Beyond the Tracks makes its debut.

The brand new, three day, green field festival at Birmingham’s Eastside City Park on September 15, 16 and 17 will feature a stellar selection of firm favourites and bright new stars.

With a line-up including Leftfield, Editors, Ocean Colour Scene, Jesus and Mary Chain, The Coral, Wild Beasts, Peter Hook, Orbital and Maximo Park this is not one to be missed.

Friday night sees electronic music pioneers Orbital headline alongside seminal electronic act Leftfield, who will be performing their dance album Leftism in its entirety, showcasing their progressive mix of house, dub and reggae that defines them as true electronic music pioneers.

Australian neo psychedelic ravers Jagwar Ma will bring the big hooks and ravey breakdowns for those who like to dance.

On Saturday local heroes Ocean Colour Scene will take to the stage for a hometown headline performance. Proud Brummies, their hometown shows are often joyous, exuberant occasions and not to be missed.

Led by energetic frontman Paul Smith, North East guitar quartet, Maximo Park will put on a show, Liverpool’s The Coral will also perform a career spanning, genre-juggling set encompassing Mersey pop, psychedelic rock and rich ballads all delivered with a classy pop sensibility.

Local boys The Twang are set to bring their rebel rousing swagger and indie rock anthems to Saturday’s line-up too.

Carl Barat and The Jackals will perform tracks from their album ‘Let It Reign’ as well as some Libertines classics in a set that will crackle with delinquent fervour and lyrical punch from a generational titan.

Sunday night will be closed by multi-million selling Editors. Birmingham residents, the band have always had a love affair with the second city.

Few bands have had such a huge effect on musical culture, as The Jesus and Mary Chain. Still a potent live force, Beyond The Tracks is proud to host them at the inaugural festival.

Wild Beasts’ electro-indie with a rock swagger is set to make for a gripping addition to Sunday’s line-up.

Expect solo material and timeless New Order and Joy Division classics from Peter Hook & The Light, sultry love songs courtesy of Nadine Shah, the Stockholm psychedelia of Josefin Ohrn + The Liberation, blues and Americana from Goodnight Lenin, acid rock meets acid house from Blackash, Victories At Sea’s post-punk synth and the strings, electronics, synths and heavy beats of Birmingham’s Dorcha.

Eastside City Park is next to the old Curzon Street station. Tickets from £45 are available from http://beyondthetracks.seetickets.com
