A FESTIVE pop-up bar which boasts 88,000 fairy lights – more per square foot than any site in Britain – will open in Birmingham on November 14.
Those wanting to get into the Christmas mood, should look no further.
‘Once Upon a Time in Birmingham’ will open at the site of the former Jamie’s Italian restaurant (Middle Mall, Bull Ring) and is set to take visitors on a merry journey.
After venturing down a pulsating electric cable, guests will emerge into a tea parlour and cocktail bar which is decked out like the interior of a fairy light.
The immersive space will feature LED-eyed portraits of ‘heroes of electricity’, views of St Martin in the Bull Ring, ‘iLOOminated’ bathrooms, Carol-oke and sporadic Christmas games hosted by Mr Sprinkles and Glowstic.
Harry Parr, director of Bompas & Parr said: “We are aiming to turn Once Upon a Time in Birmingham into one of the most festive places on the planet.
“The only thing I’m worried about is the lights getting tangled– with over 9km of strings it’ll be a real challenge to unravel.

Once Upon a Time in Birmingham will serve drinks that glow, sparkle and change colour, allowing guests to experience the tastes and smells of Christmas.
According to organisers, there will also be world-first crystal clear Christmas puddings on offer which refract light like a prism.

Entry is free at all times but with a day ticket (£5) or evening ticket (£6) guests will be guaranteed entry, receive a discount on festive punch and given the option to pre-order drinks.
