TOP saxophonist Julian Smith is to launch a new concert series at ‘The Church on the Green’ in Redditch – St Stephen’s.

A musician with an international reputation, the former Birmingham Conservatoire student hit the headlines in 2009 when he made the final of Britain’s Got Talent.

Since then his style has won him legions of fans – and now he’s coming to Redditch for a very special ‘Christmas Chillout’ at The Church on the Green on Saturday, December 16, 2017.

Performing alongside Julian Smith will be the brand new Elite Choir from Choirs Connected.

Music director, Maria Brannelly, said that she is delighted to be part of the inaugural concert at ‘The Church on the Green’, St Stephen’s Church.

“All money raised from the event will go towards paying for vital repairs to this iconic town centre landmark,” she said.

“And the concert is just the start of a drive to open the church up to the whole community.”

Concert organiser Elaine Whitfield added: “These are exciting times; we are going to have many diverse events over the coming year, there will be something for everyone and we look forward to offering a warm welcome to all.”

The Elite Choir consists of secondary school aged students and contains singers of established quality handpicked to demonstrate the very best of Redditch’s vocal talent.

They’ll be joined by Benjamin Adams, who won Redditch has Talent earlier in the year.

The Christmas Chillout is on Saturday, December 16 and refreshments – including a festive favourite… mince pies – will be available on the night.

Tickets, priced from £12 to £25 are selling fast and they are available from The Redditch Standard offices on Church Green, The Music Shop by car park 4 by the Kingfisher Shopping Centre and The Word Christian Bookshop in St Stephen’s Church.

For one day only, on Saturday, November 11, tickets will also be sold in the Kingfisher Centre where members of St Stephen’s Church are holding a table-top sale – look out for the Julian Smith banner.
