Get Spanish Blues when Claude visits Redditch

Redditch Editorial 28th Jan, 2017   0

MAKE a date for the Room Upstairs at the Palace Theatre when top guitarist Claude Bourbon brings Spanish Blues and more to Redditch.

The globetrotting troubadour plays more than 100 shows a year to adoring fans who’ve fallen for his uncanny ability to find the Blues in everything from Middle Eastern to Russian and even Medieval music.

Born in France in the early 60s, Claude grew up in Switzerland, where he was classically trained.

However the finger picking star then decided to hit the road, performing at venues including Glastonbury, the Isle of Wight Festival before crossing the Atlantic and heading further afield.

Now based in the UK, some of he cites flamenco star Paco De Lucia, Deep Purple’s Richie Blackmore, classic Spanish composer Joaquin Rodrigo as key influences, as well as the Blues JJ Cale, the humour of Monty Python, the expertise of JS Bach and the sheer catchiness of Fleetwood Mac’s Stevie Nicks….

One reviewer even noted that although “Claude’s roots were in blues, that is like saying Leonardo da Vinci was a painter”.

Claude’s gig is on Friday, February 10 at 7.45pm and tickets are available now in person or at the box office on 01527 65203 priced at £13 and £12 (disc) or buy online at http://www.redditchpalacetheatre.co.uk
