Hermits on stellar bill of 60s acts

THE Sixties may be 50 years ago but they’re heading back to Redditch with a mouthwatering concert scheduled for The Palace Theatre in November.

Tickets are likely to sell fast for a show that includes Herman’s Hermits, Chris Farlowe, Steve Ellis, the voice of Love Affair, Union Gap UK, and New Amen Corner.

The host for the evening is going to be Alan Mosca from Freddie and The Dreamers and a night of pure nostalgia and hits galore is promised.

Throughout the mid-60s music scene Herman’s Hermits proved to be a dominating force worldwide.

From 1964 the band chalked up over 23 top 20 singles, 10 hit albums, and three major movies and have to date sold 75 million records worldwide.

Chris Farlowe originally found fame with The Thunderbirds in the late 50s and his hits include classics like Out Of Time, Handbags and Glad Rags (which was also released by Rod Stewart as a single) Let The Heartaches Begin, Mr Pitiful and Midnight Hour.

Steve Ellis, The voice of Love Affair were formed in 1967 and stormed the charts with Everlasting Love.

At the time Steve was only 17 but with his distinctive powerful voice he and the band notched up further major hits.

The Union Gap UK will perform such classics as Young Girl which went to No1 in the UK and No2 in the USA. Next came Lady Willpower which reached No5 in the UK and agin No2 in the USA.

The New Amen Corner are also a force to be reckoned with singing classics such as If Paradise Is Half As Nice, Bend Me Shape Me and more.
