MEET Joseph, just about the worst carpenter in the area. He first got to know his wife when she returned to complain about a table she had bought from him. It didn’t stop him asking her out and they eventually got married.

A pretty unremarkable marriage until Mary announces that she is pregnant and that Joseph is not the father…

Welcome to ‘Jesus My Boy’ a humorous one man play from Worcester Repertory Company starring Jonathan Darby which plays at the Church of St John the Baptist in Feckenham on Wednesday (April 5).

True to form the young man has more important things to do than make furniture, however. He must set out on the road to his destiny; an agonising death followed by the most remarkable set of events the world has ever seen.

This is a stunning one-man play, the story of Jesus seen through the eyes of Joseph, an ordinary and down-to-earth man, dismayed about how his image is later portrayed in Christian artwork.

Previously performed in the West End by international star Tom Conti, it makes audiences both laugh and cry. The author John Dowie says of Jonathan Darby, “after more than 30 productions, I have found the actor who delivers what I intended”.

The performance will start at 7 30 pm and there will be wine and soft drinks for sale afterwards when there will be an opportunity to meet Jonathan Darby.

Tickets at £10 may be obtained from Feckenham Village Shop, the Rose and Crown pub in Feckenham, church members, Worcester Live 01905 611 427 www.worcesterlive.co.uk or on the door.
