Michael Portillo lifts the lid on his ups and downs at the Palace, Redditch

Ross Crawford 13th Oct, 2017

FORMER MP, political pundit and TV personality Michael Portillo joins visits the Palace Theatre in Redditch on Saturday, October 21 for one night only, to give a unique insight into his rollercoaster life and take questions from the audience.

It took Michael Portillo little more than 10 years to get a seat in the House of Commons and then rise in power and esteem to a point where he was seen as a future leader of the Conservative Party and possible future Prime Minister.

A track record like that suggests to many a privileged friend of the rich and famous with little or no understanding of or care for the ordinary citizen.

But since dramatically losing his Enfield Southgate Parliamentary seat in 1997 to Stephen Twigg Michael Portillo has rebuilt his image and career in the spotlight.

He’s no stranger to Redditch either having stopped off in town to look at the needle industry while filming an episode of his Great British Raliway Journeys for the BBC.

The evening represents a rare opportunity for the audience to listen to the man himself and then question him about it afterwards.

Tickets cfor Michael Portillo – Life: A Game of Two Halves cost £18 and are available from the box office in person or on 01527 65203 or buy online at www.redditchpalacetheatre.co.uk .
