New comedy musical The Crooners comes to the Palace

A NEW comedy musical inspired by the songs of the Rat Pack and filled with good old fashioned British humour is coming to the Palace Theatre in the shape of The Crooners.

The cast is led by Roman Marek who’ll be joined by leading UK swing band The Mini Big Band, they’re aiming to embrace the nostalgia of the British variety show and celebrate the genre in all its glory.

Heavily influenced by the music of Frank Sinatra and the stage humour of Morecambe and Wise it promises a great night of entertainment.

“The super cool Sinatra stuff is great,” said Marek.

“Audiences love the songs and the acts. But I started throwing in the less cool British comedy stuff – tripping up the stairs, telling a joke wrong, and the audience would howl with laughter…this was the way I wanted to perform.”

Roman’s already perfected the art, starring as perhaps the best known Crooner of them all – Sinatra – in a tribute act and has delighted audiences for the last seven years.

Mini Big Band leader Jon Hibbard said: “We wanted a show that is an all-singing, all-dancing musical comedy.

“It’s original, has a swinging big band, and brings variety back to the theatre.”

The show is tonight at 7.30pm and tickets cost from £21, available in person, online at www.redditchpalacetheatre.co.uk or by calling the box office 01527 65203.
