REDDITCH Orchestra will host an orchestral ‘playing day’ later this month.
The focus of the day will be one of the most beautiful and best loved symphonies of the orchestral repertoire, Rachmaninov’s 2nd Symphony.
The orchestra’s previous playing days have attracted around 70 participants, with people from as far afield as County Durham, Cardiff, London and Oxford joining more local musicians for a day of thoroughly enjoyable and rewarding music making.
The day is suitable for players of above ABRSM grade 7 standard and this year there are vacancies for string players – especially violinists, violists and bass players.
It will all take place under the baton of Russell Abraham, a young, talented and inspirational conductor now resident in Jersey.
A spokesperson for the orchestra said: “If you are a competent string player and would like to fill a winter February Saturday with beautiful music – and eat some lovely cake too – do come along!”
It’s all taking place on Saturday, February 25 at Woodfield Academy on Studley Road and costs just £10 to take part.
Full details of the day and how to apply can be found on the Redditch Orchestra website at www.theredditchorchestra.co.uk
