BRUMMIES are patriotic to the plate as fish and chips top poll of city’s favourite Desert Island Dish.
Despite being known as the curry capital of the UK, Just Eat research shows that if people from Birmingham were stranded on a remote desert island, they’d be hankering for a taste of home, with the humble fish and chips claiming the top spot as Birmingham’s ultimate desert island dish, followed by a Sunday roast.
The study also found that people would forego decadent dishes in favour of more comforting meals, as tastebuds also craved a hearty full English and lasagne.
According to the poll, Birmingham’s top ten desert island dishes are:
1 – British – Fish and Chips
2 – British – Sunday Roast
3 – Chinese – Chow Mein
4- Chinese – Sweet and Sour
5 – Indian – Tikka Masala
6 – Italian – Margherita Pizza
7 – British – Full English
8 – Italian – Lasagne
9 – Chinese – Peking Roasted Duck
10 – Indian – Madras
