REDDITCH Operatic Society (ROS) will be ‘spreading the love around’ Redditch when their latest production, hit musical comedy Sister Act, hits the Palace Theatre this November.
ROS nuns will be ‘raising their voices” for audiences from Tuesday, November 21 until Saturday, November 25, with performances at 7.30pm each night as well as a Saturday matinee at 2.30pm.
Showing for the first time at the Palace Theatre, Sister Act is the feel-good musical comedy smash based on the hit 1992 film of the same name, featuring original music by Tony Alan Menken (Newsies, Beauty and the Beast, Little Shop of Horrors).
The musical version of this show has recently been made popular with a UK tour starring X-Factor’s Alexandra Burke and directed by Strictly’s Craig Revel Horwood.
When disco diva, Deloris Van Cartier witnesses a murder, she is put in protective custody in the one place the cops are sure she won’t be found: a convent.
Using her unique disco moves and singing talent to inspire the choir, Deloris breathes new life into the church and community but, in doing so, blows her cover. Soon, the gangsters are giving chase, only to find themselves up against Deloris and the power of her newly found sisterhood.
Kelly-Louise Mitchell, Committee and Cast Member at ROS, said: “It’s fun, fabulous and you’ll definitely leave the theatre singing. Get your “Sister Act” together and take a trip back to the 1970s for big hair, bold songs and a sparkly habit or two.
“Tickets are really selling fast for this production so if you want one – don’t wait, or you might be disappointed.”
Tickets costing £17 – £18 are available from Society Ticket Secretary Ann Duffin on 01527 527363 with no booking fee.
They are also available from the Palace Theatre Box Office, online or on 01527 65203.
