REDDITCH stepped back in time with the launch of the National Lottery funded project ‘Redditch 1964 – the Start of Something Big’ at the Palace Theatre.
The project has been collecting memories of Redditch as it developed as a new town and on Saturday at a special celebratory event borough Mayor Joe Baker officially welcomed residents to the exhibition last Saturday.
Organised by the Jestaminute Community Theatre CIC and joined by members of Redditch Local History Society the day also featured the premiere of a new radio play Redditch – a New Beginning by local playwright Andy Higgit.
Not only that but there was the re-launch of an interactive kiosk in the theatre known as ‘Pod in the Palace’ which celebrates the town.
The project continues for the next four months during which the Pod will be fully updated and a touchscreen computer dedicated to the heritage of Redditch will be installed in Redditch library.
If any community organisation wants their information on the Pod they can get in touch via [email protected] or call 01527 524049.
