Studley artists taking inspiration from vision of spring

Redditch Editorial 2nd Sep, 2017 Updated: 4th Sep, 2017   0

SPRING into autumn with a solo show which launches the new season at The Artists’ Workhouse in Studley.

The Rite of Spring by Emma Safe features large scale works inspired by Igor Stravinsky’s ground breaking orchestral piece of the same name.

Premiered in 1913 the composer’s piece continues to startle today and Emma’s work will feature shifting abstractions punctuated by dancing – and disappearing – figures.

Her exhibition runs from Friday, September 1 to Sunday, September 10 at the Redditch Road gallery which is open from 11am to 4pm but closed Mondays and Tuesdays.

Emma will also be holding a life drawing workshop with a model warming up, tumbling and doing cartwheels, to capture the essence of movement.

It’s on Saturday, September 9 at the Parish Centre in Needle Close and costs £35. For further details call Dawn Harris on 07889 718242 or email [email protected]
