Top 5 fashion weeks and how to get your visa

Redditch Editorial 4th Feb, 2022   0

Many cities around the world have their own fashion week. During these annual events, the new designs by top brands or top designers are exhibited with the aim of creating new trends and pushing new talents into the spotlight. To attend the world’s most important fashion shows, it may be necessary to apply for a visa before departure.

1: United States: New York Fashion Week

New York is one of the most important fashion capitals in the world. The New York Fashion Week was first held in 1943, during the Second World War with the intention of attracting new designers, since they were unable to leave the United States and travel to Paris to attend the independent shows. Thus was born the world’s first Fashion Week. Some of the designers who usually participate in this event are Calvin Klein, Badgley Mischka or Michael Kors.

2: France: Paris Fashion Week

Paris is the epicentre of fashion. The first Paris Fashion Week was officially held in 1972 at the Palace of Versailles to raise money for the restoration of this historical landmark. Among the participating designers were Hubert de Givenchy, Yves Saint Laurent, Christian Dior and Oscar de la Renta. It is the world’s most famous fashion show, featuring designers from all over the world, such as Balenciaga and Louis Vuitton.

3: Italy: Milan Fashion Week

Italian fashion simply could not be left out of this list. Every year, in the Italian fashion city, major fashion brands such as Giorgio Armani, Salvatore Ferragano, Versace or Gucci delight the public with their designs. The Milan Fashion Week is not only famous for its creations, it has also had many iconic moments, such as that famous 1991 fashion show where Naomi Campbell, Linda Evangelista, Cindy Crawford and Christy Turlington performed George Michael’s song “Freedom”.

4: United Kingdom: London Fashion Week

With over 60 years of history, the London Fashion Week, along with those of New York, Paris and Milan, is one of the “Big Four”. It takes place twice a year (in February and September) and is currently held at the historic Someret House in central London. The event features designers such as Burberry, Tom Ford and Vivienne Westwood.

5: Australia: Australia Fashion Week

The first Australia Fashion Week was organised in 1996 as a way to showcase the creations of Australian designers to the general public. Over the years, the Australia fashion week has become increasingly well known and is now one of the most emblematic events in the world as, unlike other shows, it offers the opportunity to buy the designs at the end of the show.

Visa Requirements to Attend These Shows

For destinations such as the United States or Australia, you must apply for a visa online before departure. At e-visa.co.uk, they make this process much easier by offering visa application forms in English with clear explanations and instructions at each fill-in field. The form is checked for the most common errors so that the traveller is immediately informed if he or she has made a mistake or needs to provide additional documents to ensure that the visa in question is granted.
