THE Mersey Beatles are so good they’re the resident band at Liverpool’s famous Cavern Club.
And now, on the back of a tour that’s seen them play to sell out crowds in America, Sweden and Italy they’re coming to the Palace Theatre in Redditch to play their first ever gig here.
“The lads are all from Liverpool so there are no phoney accents, they play at the Cavern Club every Sunday night and everywhere they go they’re in demand,” said their manager Dean Peach.
“It’s phenomenal really but it’s gone 50 years since The Beatles first started and we get so many people coming to our gigs who saw the originals and they just love our show.”
The performance will cover all four eras of The Beatles story in a two hour extravaganza that showcases all the great songs by what was the best band in the world.
“No script is required. Like the original Fab Four the lads react and interact with the audience in the relaxed and natural way of their role models and all the songs are performed in the original recorded key, said Dean.
“When all of this is put together it means the best music ever made is performed with the spontaneity, energy, excitement and respect which this fantastic music deserves.”
If that wasn’t a big enough endorsement, John Lennon’s sister Julia Baird said: “There are a lot of Beatles tribute bands all over the world and I’ve seen them all, but The Mersey Beatles are the best I’ve heard.”
The Mersey Beatles play the Palace Theatre on Saturday, September 5 at 7.30pm. Tickets, at £17.25 are available from the box office on 01527 65203 or at http://bookings.redditchbc.gov.uk/MemberLogin.aspx .
