A Worcester-based interactive studio, known as Petricore, has been in business for over a decade.
Their new title is a VR role-playing title that is available on Meta Quest.
The title blends real-world surroundings with immersive elements, allowing players to navigate virtual worlds while keeping the experience immersive and sophisticated.
The Studio’s Broader Mission
The interactive studio boasts a broad mission of creating future-proof immersive 3D experiences.
Over the last decade, they have focused on crafting experiences that stand out from the rest, and this project is no different.
The studio has created several original titles for major brands across the UK, including Bose, Mitsubishi, and Burger King, as they can find new ways to blend experiences with marketing.
With that said, with their new project, they have chosen to go international by contacting companies in Germany and in California to see if they would be interested.
Eventually, they settled on Meta, as they believe they can help with both the framework and testing for the new project.
Immersive Experiences are a Huge Trend Right Now
Immersive experiences are a huge trend right now, and this new project by Petricore is coming at the right time.
It has burst onto the scene with advanced 3D graphics and complex visuals, an advanced physics engine, and spatial computing capabilities, which allow developers to use AR to add digital elements to the real world.
This project follows the trend of other verticals as well, as experiences are becoming more immersive as time goes on.
Museums, for example, are adopting more AR and 3D elements to try and make exhibitions more interactive, and they are also adopting virtual tours, so people can experience the museum even if they’re not in the same country.
In the property market, AR allows people to interact with a property, and when used with virtual tours, allows people to walk around it as if they were there themselves.
Even casino games are following this trend, especially when you look at live titles.
These are streamed from a studio and allow people to interact with a dealer in real time, which makes games like blackjack, roulette, and poker feel more immersive.
Overall, it’s evident that people want experiences that blur the lines, and Petricore seems to be stepping up to make that happen.

As time goes on, it’s safe to say that entertainment is no longer about keeping people engaged; it’s about creating experiences that go far beyond that, by blurring the lines between digital and reality to pave a new path for the world of entertainment.
Penticore has come out to say that a lot of their success comes down to how supportive the Worcester ecosystem is and the community initiatives that are in place.
There’s the Startup Worcester collective, for example, with Leadership Worcester helping the team to navigate the challenges that are associated with launching new studios in the current competitive climate.
With the studio now teaming up with Meta, it’s phenomenal to see local talent on such a global stage.
With there being so many local initiatives in place designed to help studios like this really take off, the future is bright, not just for the sector, but also for local companies who want to try and make their mark on this world.
