A FANTASTIC time was had by all at the historic Feckenham Wake last Saturday (June 20).

Dating back to medieval times, the day-long party combined the old with the new and revellers enjoyed a fleet of classic cars, falconry display, stocks complete with wet sponges and music from Arrow Valley Brass Band.

Thanks to a break in the weather, the scheduled hot air balloons were also able to take to flight across the recreation ground and took off into the sky.

Gilly Cooper, who worked at a pancake stall during the festivities, said: “It was a really lovely end to the day. One by one the balloons floated off – it was fantastic.”

Children from Feckenham School also performed traditional country dancing and any funds collected throughout the day will be distributed back into the pot for future events in the village.
