HUNDREDS flocked to the Kingfisher Centre this morning for the opening of homeware superstore, The Range.

The excited crowds queued up early today (Friday, July 14) in a bid to be the first through the doors and bag a bargain.

The store was officially opened and a ribbon cut by Mayor of Redditch, Councillor Jenny Wheeler, with Kingfisher manager Ken Williams there to welcome the new store to the centre alongside The Range CEO, Nigel Oddy.

The first 50 people in the queue were given goodybags and people were eager to take advantage of the special opening offers running across all departments until July 30.

The Free Radio’s promo team were in-store to entertain the customers, running competitions and The Range’s very own mascot, Captain Range, was also on hand to provide balloons and entertainment for the young and young at heart.

Ken Williams, the Kingfisher Shopping Centre’s general manger, said “We’re thrilled The Range has chosen Redditch to open its next store.

“We are always striving to improve the Centre, striving to create a great shopping environment for our customers.

“This new addition is the perfect fit for this space because it adds to our varied retail mix.”

The Range stocks more than 65,000 products across 16 different departments, from homewares and furniture, through to DIY and art supplies.

Devon-based entrepreneur, Chris Dawson, the owner and founder of The Range, said: “It was great to have so many people turn up to celebrate the opening this morning and hope that all our customers found themselves some fantastic bargains.”

“We would like to thank the shopping centre for all their support in the run up to the opening and are certain that the new store will provide a great boost to the already popular centre. We hope that the local community enjoy exploring their new store.”

The brand new store can be found in the Kingfisher Centre in the former BHS unit on Park Walk just opposite Marks and Spencer.
