A GROUP of travellers who set up an illegal encampment on Arrow Valley Park in Redditch have finally left the site, police have confirmed.
More than 20 caravans arrived on the car park and Redditch Police Safer Neighbourhood Team (SNT) served the group with an order to leave yesterday (Thursday).
They finally left last night.
Insp Richard Field said many residents had got in touch as their presence was intimidating to park users, including dog walkers, runners and families.
There was also the potential for damage to the area and rubbish being left at the beauty spot.
Insp Field said: “I know how special this area is for families and was keen it was able to be used by the weekend.
“Now the site is clear, it will be locked up and secured to prevent further encampments.
“Residents can now use this car park to visit Arrow Valley Lake.
“Thank you for your patience while this was addressed.”
Redditch MP Rachel Maclean thanked the police for their swift response.
