ASTWOOD BANK defeated both the wet weather and visitors Worcester Nomads to maintain their Birmingham League Division Three momentum.
On a Saturday when the elements put paid to numerous matches across Worcestershire, Steve Adshead’s side wasted no time in racing to a nine-wicket victory.
Bank won an important toss and inserted Nomads, who collapsed from 25-1 to 62 all out inside 22 overs.
Only opener Trevor Keen (24) reached double figures as all five Bank bowlers took wickets, including 3-7 for Dan Taylor, 3-8 for Andrzej Jagielski and 2-18 for Michael Desmond.
The home side made no fuss of their reply as they cantered to 66-1 off 14.1 overs thanks to a breezy 29 from Adshead and Alex Robinson (13no) an Tom Pedley (15no).
Seventh placed Bank – now within 24 points of leaders Stourbridge – will seek a third successive league win when they visit Milford Hall (Stafford) on Saturday.
