Blackwood steps down as Millers boss

Redditch Editorial 4th Sep, 2018   0

AARON BLACKWOOD has resigned from his position as Feckenham first team manager with immediate effect.

The Millers have won one and lost one of their opening Midland League Division Two fixtures, but have exited the Les James Challenge Cup and Presidents Cup – the latter on Saturday as they were beaten 2-1 by visitors Moors Academy on Saturday when Danny Murphy’s second half goal halved the hosts’ half-time deficit.

Feckenham chairman Tony Round said: “The club would like to place on record its gratitude for the work Aaron has put into the club, both on and off the pitch, over the past three years since joining from Bartley Green Illey.

“The whole club is disappointed to see Aaron leave, however, as a committee, we fully understand his reasoning and reluctantly accepted his resignation from the post.

“He’s done wonderfully well here building a young talented squad and working tirelessly behind the scenes to help develop the club on all fronts, culminating in our best league finish in a number of years last season.

“The club were at a low ebb when he joined three years back and should be proud of what he’s achieved.

“On a personal note, I started my involvement with Feckenham at the same time and it’s been a pleasure to work with him over that period.

“I hope the break and little bit of ‘me’ time does him good and he comes back into the game at some point, because it needs people like him involved.”

Luke Evans, Keith Green and Kristian Rock will lead the team in the interim as the club now begins the search for a long-term replacement.

Anyone interested in the position should contact Round on 07847 744028 or email [email protected].

The Millers visit Coventry Alvis in Midland League Division Two on Saturday.
