THE MIDLAND Counties 12 and 6-Stage relays held at Sutton Park featured a decent turnout from Bromsgrove & Redditch Athletic Club.

The men’s event was four long and eight short legs and the women had two long and four short legs – the long legs being 5.38 miles and the short 3.165 miles.

Credit goes to B&R team manager James Hood who managed to knock a team together at the last minute.

Results were as follows: 30th Mark Appleton, 30.14; 28th Peter Ball, 30.41; 30th Robert Mole, 31.28; 33rd Kevin Fisher, 32.43; 32nd Patrick Mackie, 18.04; 28th Gareth Richardson, 17.42; 33rd Paul Edmonds, 21.16; 32nd Dean Hartshorne, 19.58; 33rd Kevin Lanckham, 19.10; 32nd Anthony Warner, 19.25; 32nd Anthony Howell, 20.47; 31st Gavin Moorhead, 18.27.

B&R men finished 31st out of 58 teams completing the course and they should qualify for the nationals in April.

B&R women could only fill three of the six places on offer and they had Natasha Newton in 28th in 36.06, Sally Appleton 23rd in 21.06 and Becki Timmings 17th in 34.46.

Redditch runner Joe Smith, of Tipton Harriers, finished an excellent fifth in 28.21 to help Tipton to fifth place overall.
