REDDITCH STARS duo Stephanie Cox and Jo Scott are seeking more success after joining an elite group following their completion of the New York Marathon.
The pair are now among the ‘Six Star Finish’ club after their efforts in the USA completed a clean sweep of the Abbott World Marathon Majors (AWMM) – Tokyo, Boston, London, Berlin, Chicago and New York.
Cox and Scott, who earned themselves places in the marathons via a ballot or by raising funds for a charity place, started their marathon journey in 2016.
Their first major was London, followed by Berlin in 2017, Tokyo and Chicago in 2018, Boston in April this year and finally New York City in early November.
The AWMM is a series consisting of six of the largest and most renowned marathons in the world and applauds the achievements and passion of everyday champions from around the world.
Out of the 55,000 runners who took part in New York, 172 were Six Star finishers, with Scott clocking 3:26.08 and Cox 4:15.11.
Scott’s others times were Tokyo 3:23.24, Boston 3:37.52, London 3:22.26, Berlin 3:23.08 and Chicago 3:26.15, whilst Cox recorded Tokyo 3:59.18, Boston 4:39.03, London 4:12.50, Berlin 4:12.42 and Chicago 3:55.02.
When asked which has been their favourite race, Cox said Tokyo but with New York a close second, whilst Scott opted for Boston despite the brutal weather conditions experienced and revealed London will always hold a special place in her heart.
New York was Cox’s eighth marathon and she now plans to focus her fitness on the world of triathlon and for Scott New York was marathon number 12 and she will soon start winter training ahead of her fifth London Marathon in April.
