ALVECHURCH have announced the signing of experienced midfielder Chris Clements as manager Ian Long continues to shape his squad for the 2023/24 season.
Clements has made over 250 appearances in the Football League for the likes of Cheltenham Town, Mansfield Town and Grimsby Town.
The 33-year-old won the Conference Premier title with Mansfield in 2012/13 and clinched the League Two title with Cheltenham in 2020/21.
Clements played for Hednesford Town and Stafford Rangers last season before opting to make the move to Church this summer.
The club have also signed young defenders Ethan Hanson and Ethan Patterson with the former joining from Stourport Swifts and the latter returning to Church following a spell with Hednesford at the end of last season.
Hanson said: “If I had to describe myself as a professional player, I’d say I’m like Lisandro Martinez, he’s not your typical centre-half, he’s a bit smaller, aggressive and a leader, that’s what I bring to the table.
“Alvechurch is a step up for me personally, I think I can handle it, I spoke to the gaffer and the chairman and I liked what they had to say.
“I’m just excited to get going, I’m looking forward to the challenge.”
And full-back Josh Dugmore has committed to Alvechurch next season after arriving at Lye Meadow in January from National League North side Banbury United.
Dugmore said: “The environment is really good, I get on with the gaffer and the lads, it was a no brainer really.
“It’s been a long break, I’m looking forward to seeing the new faces and getting underway with the games.
“I loved it [last season], after having a bit of a slow start to the season, I found my feet and really enjoyed it.
“I want to build on the momentum of the FA Cup run and try and have another good run in that competition and push for the play-offs in the league.”
Defender Brad Burton has left the club to pursue other opportunities in football.
