MATT Clarke insists he is not looking at the league table after Redditch United beat AFC Sudbury 2-1 to remain just outside the play-off places.

The Reds secured a third straight win in the league thanks to goals either side of half time from Callum Rowe and Reece Flanagan at the Valley Stadium.

And the result means Redditch sit sixth in the Southern League Premier Central table, one point outside of the play-off places with games in-hand on the teams above them.

Clarke said: “That’s three wins in the league on the bounce, that’s a big positive, and back-to-back wins at home is really important, we weren’t getting enough points at home but we’ve addressed that now.

“My motto won’t change, we’re getting closer and closer now to being in a position where we can say we’re likely to stay up and we won’t change that.

“We’ve amassed more points than we expected to, I don’t really look at the league table, I just know we’re not in the bottom four, we just keep going game-by-game.

“Kettering is a really tough place to go, they’ve changed a little bit since they changed manager and the results have reflected that.

“Kettering are a big club historically and they’re very difficult to beat at their place, our away form is good and we’ll go their full of confidence.”

Redditch took the lead on 19 minutes when Rowe placed a first time shot into the left corner of the goal from the edge of the penalty area from AJ George’s lay off.

And the Reds doubled their advantage on 57 minutes as Flanagan confidently fired a penalty into the top left corner of the goal after George drew a foul in the box.

However, Sudbury reduced the deficit on 83 minutes when Tom Dickens stooped to head home from close range after the ball came back off the post.

The Reds held on despite late Sudbury pressure as the Reds continued their excellent home form with a narrow victory.

Redditch are next in action away at Kettering Town on Saturday, December 23 with kick-off at 3pm at Latimer Park.
