INKBERROW Ladies bowed out of the Women’s FA Cup at the Second Round Qualifying stage following a 4-1 defeat against Walsall.
Lola Jones netted a consolation goal for the home side in the second half at Sands Road.
Walsall raced into a three-goal lead at the break at the West Midlands Regional League Division One North side showed their class.
However, Inkberrow reduced the deficit after the break when Evie Hughes drew a foul in the box. Jones eventually forced the ball home after the Walsall goalkeeper made a fine double save.
The visitors eventually sealed their place in the next round with a fourth goal despite Inkberrow’s best efforts,
Inkberrow’s women’s secretary, Mark Wilkinson said: “It is a proud moment when our team plays in the FA Cup and with our pathway now in place it gives younger players something to look forward to season after season and emulate our men’s team who now play at Step Five of the football pyramid.”
Inkberrow’s girls’ section is now in its 12th year while the ladies first team, who play in the Midwest Counties League, are starting their fifth season.
The ladies team are currently looking for sponsorship to help them grow and develop this season.
To enable this the club is adding a 3G all weather pitch to its facilities which should be finished by Christmas.
