DANNY King starred with a goal and an assist as Redditch United beat 10-man Stratford Town 2-0 to claim a first home win in the league since September.

King completed the scoring on 78 minutes after setting up Alex Cameron for Redditch’s opener on 20 minutes while Chris Hussey saw red for the Bards at the Valley Stadium.

And the result means the Reds sit eighth in the Southern League Premier Central table, outside of the play-off places on goal difference.

Matt Clarke’s side took the lead on 20 minutes as Cameron tapped home King’s square ball at the back post after excellent work from the latter to hold off his marker.

The Bards almost drew level soon after as Paul McCone’s header bounced down off the crossbar and onto the line before Redditch scrambled the ball to safety.

However, the Reds received a boost on 37 minutes when Stratford defender Hussey saw red for committing a foul as the last defender.

Chances were at a premium in the second half before King settled the game on 78 minutes after cutting inside and blasting home from Musa Ceesay’s pass.

Redditch are next in action at home to Royston Town with kick-off at 3pm at the Valley Stadium.
