REDDITCH United have confirmed the signing of creative midfielder Ross Evans after he impressed on trial with the club.
Evans scored two goals in as many games on trial with the club in pre-season matches against Lye Town and Malvern Town.
The former Solihull Moors and Alvechurch player ended last season with Walsall Wood and caught the eye of Reds boss Tim Flowers during pre-season.
Flowers said: “Ross Evans comes in as a bit of a wildcard, he’s a very very skillful player and a very technically gifted kid who a lot of people have had a look at.
“I’ve spoken to a lot of people about him who have said that if you can get the penny to drop with him then he’ll be sensational. I’ve looked at what he can do rather than what he can’t do.
“I’m hoping I can get him to do the things I want him to do which is the uglier side of the game when he hasn’t got the ball, but when he has got the ball he’s a bit of a free spirit and he can make things happen – which is exactly what he did against Lye with his goal, striking the post and a couple of very clever through balls.
“He’s one that we’ll try to develop if we can and we’re pleased to have secured him for the upcoming season.”
Evans added: “I’m buzzing to sign for Redditch as they’re a big club and I can’t wait to get the season underway in front of the fans.
“I’d describe my playing style as someone who is creative on the ball. I like to think I can create chances for goals and I’m hoping that I can bring goals and assists throughout the season to help the team push on.
“I’m happy to have started pre-season well with two goals in two games, but pre-season is just that. I’ve got to bring that into the season with me now and hopefully, there are many more goals to come.”
