SPORTING Club Inkberrow missed the chance to seal a play-off place after losing 2-0 away at high-flying Malmesbury Victoria.

Inkberrow suffered their first away defeat of the year and had Dan Bamana sent off at the Corinium Stadium.

The result means Sporting still need one win from their remaining three fixtures to secure a play-off spot with the club fourth in the Hellenic League Division One table.

Malmesbury took an early lead when Harvey Scholes broke the deadlock with a goal from close range after Jude Franks could only parry an initial effort.

Inkberrow took control of the latter stages of the first half only for Bamana to see red on 52 minutes following an off the ball incident moments after the same player saw a penalty appeal turned down.

Franks made two stunning reaction saves to keep his side in the contest before substitute Matthew Fusco sealed the points for Malmesbury at the death.

Inkberrow are next in action away at Tytherington Rocks on Saturday, April 6 with kick-off at 3pm at Hardwicke Playing Field.
