JONATHAN Lee Jones was crowned Kings Norton GC’s Club Championship winner as he won the 36-hole strokeplay (best gross) competition in magnificent style on Saturday.

Jones carded 77 and 76 for a 153 total as he stole the show in searing temperatures, one shot ahead of runner-up K Stanton who carded 79 and 75 for a 154.

Congratulations to all the competitors for the strength and stamina shown, which was definitely needed on this occasion.

Another 36-hole title was awarded in the shape of the Queen Elizabeth Silver Jubilee Cup (best nett from the Club Championship) and the winner was Blue McWhirter (73+72=145) and runner-up was Jones (75+74=149).

The men’s Monday Medal last week was won by Leo Lee (85-18=67) and runner-up was Phil Yorke (76-8=68).

The Kings Norton Gold Cup Open competition is due to be played on August 2 and the KN27 Pro/Am on August 11. Full details and application forms are available to download from the club’s website at www.kingsnortongolfclub.co.uk. This offers an opportunity to play at a championship course in two competitions offering great prizes.
