HDA Redditch Tennis Club’s mini tennis teams made it to the final of the Herefordshire & Worcestershire county leagues held at Pershore and Malvern tennis clubs.
The triumphant 10&U girls’ team of Latesha Grant and Paulina Jurkowska were ruthless as they played short sets to four games and won all nine of their matches without dropping a game, beating Manor Park Malvern, Bromsgrove and Barnt Green.
Owen Perry and Seb Purvis had a battle on their hands for the top spot in the 10&U boys’ event, first beating Barnt Green 3-0 in matches and then Hereford 2-1.
The final tie against Bromsgrove was 1-1 after the singles and Bromsgrove won the doubles, leaving the Redditch boys runners-up.
The 8&U team made it to the final and finished fourth in the county, beating David Lloyd Worcs, Ombersley and Stourport in the semi-finals.
It has been another successful season for junior and adult teams at HDA, with the men’s A team having won Division Four of the South Warwickshire Winter League and the men’s B team having gained promotion by finishing second in Division Six.
The club has entered 18 teams in the county summer leagues, which includes a new ladies’ B team and a new men’s C team, as well as junior teams in every age group from 8&U through to 18&U.
